The plant's activities are highly demanding in terms of electrical and thermal energy.
Aquiris produces green electricity that covers 30% of total electricity consumption (60,000 MWh annually) through :
- A fleet of photovoltaic panels, with more than 10,000 panels
- A 2 MWe cogeneration unit using the biogas produced during sludge digestion
- A hydraulic turbine recovers the potential energy from the water at the end of the treatment. This energy is then used to supply an electrical generator
The station also consumes thermal energy: natural gas and biogas produced on site are used to create steam necessary for the heating of different processes.
